St. Lucian born artist Michelle Elliot hails from Vigie, Castries from a family with a seafaring and restaurateur heritage, Michele is a self taught artist who on a trip to Maui, Hawaii about 20 years go, was inspired by resident artists in that island.
On coming back to St. Luica she started to paint ad realized the talent that she herself had and her paintings were being appreciated by friends and family and eventually the public to whom she started to sell her work.
About 12 years ago whilst running the family restaurant she desired specifically designed crockery and so began delving creating her own ceramics. Self taught in this craft, she is now known for her unique line of ceramics whih is all hand made and hand painted
The island of St Lucia which is her home, is her greatest inspiration. She describes her work as ‘naïve and whimsical” with lots of colour which shows the vibrancy, energy and passion that Michelle is made of.
This innovative artist also has desged and created a line of silk screen printing fabrics. Michelle has since exhibited her paintings in Cagne Sur Mer (French Riviera), Santo Domingo and locally in St. Lucia. The Wild Orchid Design Team headed by Michelle has its production studios at The Pink Plantation House situated at Chef Harry Drive on The Morne
in Castries St. Lucia. It was whilst searching for a house with a historical background to house her studios that she ad her sister stmled across the beautiful French Colonial home and have created a home for all her designs combined with the gardens nd restaurant which makes for a great place to visit.
